Offload selected agent tasks to Alibaba Qwen models through the Qwen CLI and delegation-core when you need turbo speed, max reasoning, or very large context batches.
About
qwen-delegation teaches solo builders how to route work from delegation-core to Alibaba’s Qwen family using the Qwen CLI. It is a narrow integration skill: pick the right model tier, pass prompts and files with @path patterns, and recover from rate limits or install issues without blocking your primary agent. Use it when delegation-core selects Qwen or when you need large-context batch processing that your main model would truncate or overprice. The skill catalogs practical flags, cost positioning relative to comparable providers, and verification commands so you can confirm the binary and model list on your machine. It assumes you already use a delegation orchestrator rather than calling Qwen for every chat turn, which keeps the pattern suitable for indie pipelines that mix Claude Code or Cursor with cheaper or bigger context backends.
- Maps qwen-turbo, qwen-max, and qwen-coder to fast, complex, and code-focused workloads
- Documents CLI flags: -p prompt, --model, --format, --temperature, and @path context inclusion
- Supports @directory/**/* for recursive file context with 100K+ token handling
- Troubleshooting via delegation_executor.py verify qwen, pip install qwen-cli, and PATH checks

Qwen CLI Delegation
Overview
This skill implements conjure:delegation-core for the Qwen CLI. It provides Qwen-specific authentication, quota management, and command construction.
For shared delegation patterns, see Skill(conjure:delegation-core).
When To Use
- After
Skill(conjure:delegation-core)determines Qwen is suitable - When you need Qwen's large context window (100K+ tokens)
- For batch processing, summarization, or multi-file analysis
- If the
qwenCLI is installed and configured
Prerequisites
Installation:
# Install Qwen CLI
pip install qwen-cli
# Verify installation
qwen --version
# Check authentication
qwen auth status
# Login if needed
qwen auth login
# Or set API key
export QWEN_API_KEY="your-key"Verification: Run python --version to verify Python environment.
Quick Start
Using Shared Delegation Executor
# Basic file analysis
python ~/conjure/tools/delegation_executor.py qwen "Analyze this code" --files src/main.py
# With specific model
python ~/conjure/tools/delegation_executor.py qwen "Summarize" --files src/**/*.py --model qwen-max
# With output format
python ~/conjure/tools/delegation_executor.py qwen "Extract functions" --files src/main.py --format jsonDirect CLI Usage
# Basic command
qwen -p "@path/to/file Analyze this code"
# Multiple files
qwen -p "@src/**/*.py Summarize these files"
# Specific model
qwen --model qwen-max -p "..."Save Output
qwen -p "..." > delegations/qwen/$(date +%Y%m%d_%H%M%S).mdSmart Delegation
The shared delegation executor can auto-select the best service:
# Auto-select based on requirements
python ~/conjure/tools/delegation_executor.py auto "Analyze large codebase" \
--files src/**/* --requirement large_contextQwen-Specific Details
For Qwen-specific models, CLI options, cost reference, and troubleshooting, see modules/qwen-specifics.md.
Qwen-Specific Configuration
Model Reference
| Model | Use Case | Context |
|---|---|---|
qwen-turbo | Fast, simple tasks | Standard context |
qwen-max | Complex analysis | Extended context |
qwen-coder | Code-specialized | If available |
CLI Options
| Flag | Purpose |
|---|---|
-p "prompt" | Specify prompt |
--model <name> | Select model |
--format <type> | Output format (json, markdown) |
--temperature <0-1> | Control randomness |
@path | Include file in context |
Context Inclusion Patterns
- Use
@pathto include file contents - Use
@directory/**/*for recursive inclusion - Qwen handles large contexts well (100K+ tokens)
Cost Reference
- Competitive with Gemini pricing
- Varies by model tier and provider
Qwen-Specific Troubleshooting
Rate Limits
- Check with:
python ~/conjure/tools/delegation_executor.py verify qwen - Consider
qwen-turbofor faster responses with lower limits
Installation Issues
- Install:
pip install qwen-cli - PATH issues: validate
~/.local/binis in PATH - Verify:
which qwenandqwen --version
Model Access
- Check available models:
qwen --help | grep -A 10 "model" - Version updates may add new models
