MCP Launch Skills

Last Updated: 2026-05-21

A coordinated set of Claude Cowork Skills built on the GoodDay MCP, expressing the GoodDay Method for managing inventory and scaling the operations of a growing consumer or retail brand.

---

What this is

Nine Skills shipping together. Each one is narrow on purpose — it does one job well, on a predictable schedule, with a predictable shape of output. Together they read like a coherent operating system for an inventory ops team that's outgrown spreadsheets and Slack threads.

They all run on the GoodDay MCP. That coherence is the point: the controller's close-blockers, the warehouse team's transfer queue, the planner's forecasting inputs, the supply chain team's vendor scorecard, and the wholesale lead's order coverage all read the same underlying record. Same ledger. Same channels. Same locations. Same vendors.

The GoodDay Method, in one paragraph

Multi-channel consumer brands operate inventory at four dimensions — SKU × Channel × Location × Lot — and the Method is built around keeping all four clean and trustworthy. Every morning, an operator should be able to look at one screen and know: where the ledger has drifted, what's stuck in transit, what's about to stock out, what's coming in late, and what it's costing them. The Skills in this folder produce that screen. The action Skills (Safety Stock Manager, Cross-Channel Rebalance) draft the fixes.

Data quality — the dependency every analysis sits on

An ERP and its analyses are only as good as the data fed in. The traditional hard part of getting value out of an ERP isn't the tools — it's keeping the data current: incoterms dates entered the day a PO opens, vendor costs filled before goods land, receipts completed when units physically arrive, transfers received in the system when they're received at the dock, adjustments captured the moment a count happens. Where this discipline lapses, the Skills surface the symptom (Costing Quality flags zero-COGS shipments, Supply Chain Health Check flags blank ETAs and draft receipts, Aging Analysis flags lots stuck because the ledger says they're still Reserved) — but the fix lives in the operational habit. The Skills are designed to make data-quality gaps loud rather than hide them. Treat persistent flags as a hygiene problem upstream, not as a Skill noise problem.

What each Skill does

  1. Costing Quality (gd-costing-quality)

    • Answers "Is inventory valuation and COGS close-ready today?"
    • Surfaces shipments that moved at zero cost and lots on hand with no landed cost applied
    • Catches negative ledger positions and hidden lot-level offsets that break FIFO cost flow underneath clean-looking SKU totals
  2. Ops Morning Briefing (gd-onhand-ops)

    • Answers "What do I need to fix today on the floor and in the ledger?"
    • Watches for physical transfers between Locations stuck in transit beyond 7 days (with draft-receipt-pending sub-flag for the easiest fixes)
    • Surfaces rebalance drafts queued up by gd-rebalance but not yet acted on
  3. Supply Chain Health Check (gd-supply-check)

    • Answers "Is the inbound inventory data trustworthy enough to plan against today?"
    • Scans open POs and inbound shipments for missing incoterms dates, missing vendor cost, past-due arrivals, and blank ETAs classified by root cause
    • Flags upcoming arrivals not yet on a shipment and receipts left in draft
  4. Wholesale Watch (gd-wholesale-watch)

    • Answers "Which accounts are at risk this week, and which orders need coverage today?"
    • Tracks open Wholesale orders with confirmed demand the system can't cover, and ship windows opening in the next 7 and 14 days labeled by coverage status
    • Flags unallocated blocks with imminent ship dates that need attention before they slip
  5. Vendor & Cost Trends (gd-vendor-trends)

    • Surfaces patterns underneath the daily fires — trailing 360-day vendor scorecard covering on-time, fill rate, quantity reductions, and lead time slippage
    • Catches PO line items where current vendor cost has drifted ±5% from the original, plus vendor SKUs whose price moved more than 5% across the year
    • Includes an ad-hoc QBR Pack mode for single-vendor pre-meeting briefs
  6. Aging Analysis (gd-aging-analysis) — weekly Monday

    • Answers "Is inventory turning the way we want, and where is cash trapped?"
    • Surfaces aged inventory by cohort, stale lots stuck in Reserved / Unsellable / one Channel (with FIFO two-transfer swap recommendations because naive single transfers boomerang the stuck lot back), dead stock SKUs not moving, and per-Location turnover vs the merchant's configured target
    • Catches the false-aging signal created when stuck lots distort the aging report and lender lending base, while properly flagging Unsellable write-off discipline gaps
  7. GoodDay Morning Update (gd-morning)

    • One-screen cross-functional pulse rolling up the top 5 items from Ops, Supply Chain, and Wholesale Watch into a single morning digest
    • Produces a Red / Amber / Green overall severity badge so a leader can read the day's state in under 90 seconds
    • Drill links route to each constituent Skill's full output for deeper investigation
  8. Safety Stock Manager (gd-safety-stock) — action Skill

    • Daily reserved-unit release workflow
    • Identifies SKUs where Available has hit zero (Available ≤ 0) while Reserved is still held back, and drafts a warehouse count email — counts on these SKUs are static during the day because no further movement is possible, so there's no end-of-day reconciliation across Shopify / GoodDay / WMS
    • Stages Transfer Orders and Adjustments to release Reserved into Available once the count comes back
  9. Cross-Channel Rebalance (gd-rebalance) — action Skill

    • Matches Wholesale demand gaps and eCommerce stockout risk against excess inventory in other channels at the same Location
    • Drafts virtual Transfer Orders to rebalance, with line-item reasoning per recommendation
    • Posts a Slack summary of what was proposed to be moved and why (the human reviews and submits)

Read-only vs. action Skills

The first seven Skills above are read-only. They surface what needs attention, ranked by $ impact and age, with drill links back into GoodDay. The operator decides what to do.

The two action Skills (Safety Stock Manager and Cross-Channel Rebalance) draft Transfer Orders and Adjustments in GoodDay for human review and submit. They are positioned as the next tier above alerting: the read-only Skills tell you what's wrong; the action Skills draft the fix.

This split is deliberate for v1. Read-only Skills are safer to deploy broadly, faster to onboard, and easier to scope. Action Skills carry more weight per merchant but require trust earned through alerting first.

Shared scaffold

Every Skill ships with the same set of supporting files:

  • SOP — the human-readable procedure. What gets checked, why, in what order, how findings are presented.

  • Configuration — every tunable threshold, ignore list, and per-merchant setting in one place. Change values here, not in the SOP.

    • The shared launch-wide defaults live in Configuration — Shared.md. Each per-Skill Configuration file inherits from it and only overrides the settings unique to that Skill.
  • SKILL.md — the Claude instruction set that implements the SOP.

  • Reference to the shared Brand Guide — every output rendered in Claude Cowork applies GoodDay branding (colors, voice, risk badges, naming).

Brand

All Skill outputs in Claude Cowork render against the GoodDay Brand Guide (🖼️ Brand Guidelines.pdf) in this folder. Skills pull voice, color treatment, badge styling, and naming conventions from it at output time. Credit goes to the merchant user and to the GoodDay Method!
