About

What it does

palkan-skills is a Claude Code plugin bundle that packages agent skills inspired by the Layered Rails book and related Rails craftsmanship material. Solo builders shipping Ruby on Rails APIs or SaaS backends install it when they want the agent to reason about layering, domain boundaries, and structural design instead of generating flat CRUD. The skills also support structured review of existing Rails codebases against those principles, which makes the bundle useful both while you are designing new features and when you are hardening code before release. It is not a generic Ruby linter or a deployment tool; it is opinionated architectural guidance tuned to Rails. One plugin is included in the repository listing, with community discovery metadata and keywords spanning applications, architecture, design, layered, principles, rails, review, and using. Pair it with your normal test and security passes in Ship because review here is architectural, not automated CVE scanning.

Highlights

  • Skills grounded in Layered Rails book principles for maintainable Rails applications
  • Architecture and design guidance for layered boundaries and application structure
  • Application review workflows aligned with Rails best practices
  • Focused keyword set: layered, principles, design, architecture, review
  • Single-plugin bundle from palkan/skills (285 GitHub stars)

Why builders use it

Rails codebases often grow into tangled models and controllers because agents and humans lack a shared layered design vocabulary at implementation time.

After install, Claude can propose and critique Rails structure using layered architecture principles and book-aligned review patterns before you merge risky changes.
