What are C2PA content credentials?

A C2PA content credential is a cryptographically signed note in a file’s metadata recording how the file was made or edited. It is an open industry standard used by camera makers and photo-editing software. Claude attaches one to files it produces, such as .png, .jpg and .svg - metadata alongside the file, not a watermark inside it.
