What is SynthID-Text?
SynthID-Text is Google DeepMind's text-watermarking scheme, published in Nature in 2024. It changes only how a model samples its next word, so training is untouched and detection never has to run the model itself. Anthropic's Claude watermark, announced in August 2026, uses the same family of method.
